Ingredients

Chicken breast - the protein-packed star of these chicken caesar lettuce wraps. It’s lean, juicy, and crisps up beautifully when breaded with panko. I like to double-coat the chicken in panko breadcrumbs for an extra-crunchy texture that holds up well in the lettuce wraps.
Bacon - bacon adds a salty, smoky flavor that complements the chicken perfectly. I prefer air-frying the bacon for a crisp texture and easy cleanup, but pan-frying works just as well.
Romaine or gem lettuce - lettuce brings a crisp, refreshing crunch to every bite. These lettuce varieties hold their shape well and provide the perfect foundation for building the wraps. I like to trim the edges for neatness, which makes rolling the rice paper easier.
Rice paper sheets - A fun alternative to traditional wraps. Once softened in water, they become pliable and slightly chewy, encasing the fillings beautifully. They also make these wraps naturally gluten-free, which is a win for many!
Caesar dressing - the creamy, tangy glue that brings all the flavors together in these chicken caesar lettuce wraps. A little goes a long way here, just enough to enhance the flavors without overpowering them.
Parmesan cheese - parmesan adds a nutty, savory depth to the wraps. I like to freshly grate mine for the best flavor and texture.
Panko breadcrumbs - create an ultra-light, crispy coating for the chicken in the chicken caesar lettuce wraps. Double-coating ensures the chicken stays crunchy, even after being wrapped.
Egg - egg acts as the binder for the breadcrumbs, ensuring an even coating.
Salt and pepper - bring out the natural flavors of the chicken in these chicken caesar lettuce wraps and enhance the overall taste.
See recipe card for quantities.
Instructions

- Step 1: Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Crack the egg onto a plate and whisk it. Spread ¼ of the panko breadcrumbs on another plate. Dip each chicken breast into the egg, ensuring both sides are coated, then press it into the breadcrumbs. Repeat this process once more with each chicken breast until each has been dipped into egg and panko twice if you want a thicker crispier coating. Add another ¼ breadcrumbs to the plate each time.

- Step 2: Spray the coated chicken breasts lightly with cooking oil and place them in an air fryer. Cook at 200°C (390°F) for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through. Check that the internal temperature reaches 75°C (165°F). While the chicken is air frying, cook the bacon in the air fryer or pan-fry it until crispy. Set it aside to cool slightly before chopping into bite-sized pieces. At his point also grate the Parmesan cheese and set aside. Prepare the lettuce leaves by trimming the edges to create a flat surface, which helps when rolling the rice paper wraps.

- Step 3: Fill a shallow bowl or plate with warm water. Dip a rice paper sheet into the water for about 10 seconds, then lay it flat on a clean surface then repeat with the other. Work one sheet at a time to prevent sticking.

- Step 4: Place a few pieces of lettuce in the center of the rice paper. Layer half the Parmesan, bacon, chicken, and a drizzle of Caesar dressing on top. Leave space at the edges for rolling.
To roll the wraps
Fold the top and bottom edges of the rice paper over the filling. Then, fold one side inward and roll tightly, sealing the edges as you go. Repeat for the second wrap. Slice the wraps in half for easier handling. I love serving these chicken Caesar lettuce wraps in rice paper on their own for lunch or pairing them with crispy fries for a heartier dinner.

Hint: Double-coat the chicken breasts in panko breadcrumbs for the best results. Press the breadcrumbs firmly onto the chicken to ensure they stick, and use olive oil spray before air frying for extra crunch.
My Homemade Yoghurt based Caesar Dressing:
Ingredients
Greek yogurt – forms the creamy, tangy base and lightens up the dressing without sacrificing richness
Parmesan cheese – adds sharp, salty depth and classic Caesar flavor
Anchovy paste – brings a savory, umami punch (don’t skip it — it’s what gives Caesar its signature taste)
Egg yolk – helps emulsify the dressing and adds a silky texture
Dijon mustard – sharpens the flavor and supports the emulsion
Lemon juice – brightens everything up and cuts through the richness
Worcestershire sauce – enhances the umami with sweet and tangy notes
Garlic – for that essential garlicky Caesar bite
Salt and pepper – to balance and season
Method
In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 egg yolk, 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon anchovy paste, and 1 minced garlic clove until smooth. Add 2 tablespoons lemon juice and 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, whisking to combine. Stir in ½ cup Greek yogurt and ¼ cup finely grated parmesan until fully incorporated. Season with salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste. Optional: Blend for a smoother texture, or leave it hand-whisked for a more rustic feel. Chill for at least 15 minutes before using to let the flavors meld.
Substitutions
Chicken breasts - Swap for boneless chicken thighs for a juicier texture, or use leftover chicken to save time and reduce waste. For a vegetarian option, replace with crispy tofu or grilled halloumi.
Bacon - Substitute with turkey bacon for a leaner option, or try smoked salmon for a unique twist. For a plant-based alternative, use vegan bacon strips or crispy tempeh.
Romaine or gem lettuce - Use iceberg lettuce for a similar crunch, or baby spinach for a softer texture. You can also try butter lettuce for a milder flavor.
Rice paper sheets - Replace with soft tortilla wraps or collard green leaves for a low-carb option. Alternatively, use spring roll wrappers for a slightly different texture.
Caesar dressing - If unavailable, opt for ranch dressing or make your own using mayonnaise, lemon juice, dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. For a healthier choice, try Greek yogurt-based Caesar dressing.
Parmesan cheese - Swap for grana padano or pecorino romano for a similar nutty flavor. If dairy-free, use vegan Parmesan or a sprinkle of nutritional yeast.
Panko breadcrumbs - Use regular breadcrumbs or crushed cornflakes for a similar crunch. For a gluten-free alternative, try crushed rice crackers or almond flour crumbs.
Egg - Replace with a flaxseed egg (1 tablespoon flaxseed mixed with 2.5 tablespoons water) for a vegan option, or use buttermilk to coat the chicken.
Salt and pepper - Enhance with garlic powder or lemon zest for extra flavor. If looking for a spicy kick, add a touch of cayenne pepper or smoked paprika.
Variations
Spicy Chicken Caesar Lettuce Wraps: Add a drizzle of sriracha or sprinkle of chili flakes to the creamy Caesar dressing for a spicy kick. Substitute garlic powder with smoked paprika in the panko breadcrumbs for extra flavor.
Vegetarian Caesar Wraps: Swap the chicken breasts with crispy tofu or roasted chickpeas and the bacon with smoky tempeh. Use your favorite homemade Caesar dressing to keep it plant-based.
Mediterranean Caesar Wraps: Replace parmesan cheese with crumbled feta and bacon with sundried tomatoes. Add a hint of lemon zest and garlic powder to the salad mixture for a Mediterranean twist on the classic chicken Caesar lettuce wraps.

Storage
Chicken Caesar lettuce wraps are ideal for meal prep and storing for later. To maintain the freshness of your ingredients, store each component separately. Wrap the tender chicken breasts tightly in plastic wrap or place them in an airtight container, keeping them refrigerated for up to 3 days. Crispy romaine lettuce should be washed, dried thoroughly, and stored in a sealed bag or container with a paper towel to absorb excess moisture.
If preparing rice paper wraps ahead, wrap them individually in parchment paper to prevent sticking. Store the creamy Caesar dressing in a small jar or container, and keep parmesan cheese in a resealable bag.
When ready to enjoy, reheat the chicken on medium-high heat in the air fryer or a skillet for a crispy texture. Reassemble the wraps fresh to maintain the perfect combination of textures in this delicious chicken Caesar lettuce wraps recipe!
Top Tip
Store all components separately to maintain freshness. Keep lettuce wraps and parmesan cheese in airtight containers, and store cooked chicken breasts in a large bowl. Assemble right before eating for the best Caesar salad wrap experience.
