Equipment

  • Small pan
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Grater

Ingredients

  • 250 g turkey mince
  • 1 carrot grated
  • 1 parsnip grated
  • 100 g Brussel sprouts grated or finely sliced
  • 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • 360 g wonton wrappers
  • 20 g chives optional, for tying
  • 200 ml vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 tablespoon cranberry sauce

Instructions

  • Begin by grating your carrot and parsnip, and either grating or finely slicing the Brussel sprouts. In a large mixing bowl, combine the turkey mince with the grated vegetables.
    1 carrot, 1 parsnip, 100 g Brussel sprouts, 250 g turkey mince
  • Add light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, sesame oil, minced ginger, egg, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until well combined, ensuring the flavors are evenly distributed.
1 tablespoon light soy sauce, 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce, 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, 1 egg, Salt and Pepper, 1 teaspoon minced ginger
  • Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Add 1 teaspoon of filling in the center. Lightly wet the edges around the filling to help the wrapper stick.
    360 g wonton wrappers
  • Roll the wrapper into a tube, then gently press down on the edges with a fork to seal. Pinch both ends to create a “Christmas cracker” shape
  • For extra festive flair, soak chives in hot water for a few minutes to soften, then tie them around each end of the wonton for a ribbon-like effect. Trim any excess chives if needed. This step is time consuming so if you are leaving it out just make sure to pinch and seal the dumplings.
    20 g chives
  • Heat vegetable oil in a small pot or pan (see below for air fryer version). Once the oil is hot, carefully add a few wontons at a time, frying for 1-2 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Turn them halfway through for an even fry. Adjust the frying time if needed based on the oil temperature to achieve the perfect golden color. If air frying the wontons instead of frying - Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes. Lightly spray the assembled turkey Christmas cracker wontons with oil on both sides to help them crisp. Place the wontons in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving a little space between each one for even cooking. Air fry for roughly 10 minutes, turning them halfway through until golden brown and crispy.
    200 ml vegetable oil
  • Arrange your crispy Turkey Christmas Cracker Wontons on a festive platter and serve with a small dish of cranberry sauce for dipping. Enjoy the combination of crunchy texture and flavorful filling with a sweet and tangy finish!
    2 tablespoon cranberry sauce

Notes

Avoid overfilling the wrappers, as too much filling can cause the turkey Christmas cracker wontons to burst while frying. A teaspoon per wrapper works perfectly.
